Hollow Knight Beta is an early version of the beloved adventure game, offering a raw and challenging experience. It invites players to “see how the journey began before the final release,” while testing their skills in a less forgiving world.
Unlike Hollow Knight, Hollow Knight Beta represents a work in progress. Beta builds often include experimental mechanics, missing features, and altered systems. This makes them fascinating for players who want to explore cut content, discover early ideas, and understand how developers refine gameplay over time.
Your goal is to explore limited areas like King’s Pass, Dirtmouth, and the Forgotten Crossroads while defeating enemies and surviving hazards. Progress depends on careful movement and smart combat rather than upgrades.
Use the keyboard (WASD or arrow keys) to move through platforming sections. Jumping requires precise timing, as the beta version lacks many safety features. Since maps are limited, players must rely on memory and observation to navigate effectively.
Press attack keys (Z or K) to strike enemies. Combat is faster but riskier due to shorter attack range and fewer invincibility frames. Avoid rushing—wait for openings and strike carefully to minimize damage.
SOUL is gained slowly when hitting enemies, making healing more difficult. Using Focus takes longer in Hollow Knight Beta, so you must find safe moments to recover health instead of relying on quick heals.
